WHAT IS SOMATICS?
Broadly, somatics focuses on the body and movement as a means to improve your well being.
Kristy's approach to somatic healing is a fusion of her experience and background in psychology, yoga, mindfulness, holistic healing and Somatic Experiencing that supports and guides you into deeper connection with your mind, body and life.
Somatic Sessions
The body is a largely untapped resource for psychotherapy, healing and trauma resolution.
Practitioners of somatics believe the mind and body are intimately connected, but not always in apparent ways. Thoughts, actions, emotions, and sensations are all interconnected and influence each other.
Many people find somatic work a beautiful alternative or adjunct modality to talk therapy when experiencing challenges or difficulties in life relating to the past or current, daily life.
We may also work with stuck tension, pain, emotions or patterns that are negatively affecting your physical and/or emotional wellbeing.

Instead of analyzing and trying to make sense of it all, we bring awareness to the body and nervous system. Using a mind-body approach allows for more exploration and a deeper sense of completion and resolution from the inside, out.

Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing is a somatic therapy developed by Peter Levine based on Jungian therapy and his observations of animals and the natural world.
It is a slow and gentle form of body-centered therapy that looks at the intimate connection of the mind and body and believes in the body's innate ability to regulate and heal.

Healing requires access to the present moment and a felt sense of safety in your mind and body.

Working with an attuned Somatic practitioner will allow you to access this sense of safety from within, opening up communication with your body and what it needs to experience resolution.
In traditional therapy, we rely heavily on the mind to make sense and understand what is happening, but healing cannot happen when we rely on the mind alone.
